Hello everyone and a big hello to my new readers / likers / subscribers that I’ve gained the last few weeks. I’ve finally had some photos accepted from Tastespotting and Foodgawker and I’m happy to say it has allowed this little blog of mine to get some more views and readers, which I am very thankful for.
Today I’m going to do that dear diary thing that I’m sure is boring for some of you (totes understand) but is selfishly a great way for me to de-stress. For those that don’t know me in the ‘real world’, perhaps these posts are also a way to get to know me better. That’s me down there, I’m doing what’s known as the awkward tea pouring pose ;)
I looked for a job for ages when Key and I first arrived in Singapore. There were some options and even a job interview that went quite well, but for various reasons that are unimportant here, it just didn’t happen. Not going to lie, it sucked not being able to find work and it was demoralizing, but now I’m thankful in a way because it has allowed me to start this blog which I have now been posting on for over 6 months!
Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to be able to make this blog into a job of sorts, but for now, writing this blog will remain solely a ‘hobby’ for me, at least until I am in a situation again where I am actually allowed to earn money i.e. living in my country of citizenship.
Lately I have been feeling a little less relaxed about my blog. There have been times (like today as I am writing this) that I have felt stressed about writing a post or coming up with something to cook and to be honest, there have been times when it has made me dread the thought of getting into my kitchen and that is just.not.cool. Sure, there will always be days that I don’t particularly feel like making dinner, but I don’t ever want to dread the thought of cooking.
So that is a really long way of saying I’m going to take the rest of the week off (I’m writing this on Tuesday) and then I’ll be back to regular posting on 4 days of the week but I’m not going to post on Wednesdays anymore. It will give me a bit of extra time up my sleeve to make better quality food and posts for you and perhaps I can also use that time to stop being so hard on myself about something that I truly love doing and something that I am meant to be enjoying as my hobby. Key often tells me to woosah. I now plan to woosah Wednesday :)
I will still continue with my series’ (the current one is Cooking From My Cook Books) but those series posts will now be on either Tuesday or Thursday depending on what works better that week. I have some great recipes coming up for you next week, as well as a review of our meal at Jamie’s Italian Singapore.
