Welcome to my first In The Kitchen post! Every month I read Celia from Fig Jam and Lime Cordial’s IMK post and I tell myself that I should join in.
Well no more procrastination and shyness…I now plan to join in and contribute my own In My Kitchen post each month.
If you would like to join in too, pop over to Fig Jam and Lime Cordial for all of the info.
In my kitchen are some activated linseeds and almonds. Yes, those kind of activated almonds. I soaked them in water overnight and then added them to my bowl of porridge in the morning. The linseeds expanded a fair bit and started to get a bit gelatinous a bit like chia seeds do. The almonds changed in texture a bit, but tasted the same. I’d do it again if I was organised, but I’m not sold on the potential health benefits yet.
In my kitchen is some Champagne Strawberry Jam from a wedding that we attended in Witta, QLD over the weekend. The jam was made locally in Maleny and was decorated by the mother of the bride so that they could be used as place settings. Each person got a little gift of jam with their name printed on one side of the tag. An absolutely gorgeous idea and I can’t wait to try the jam on some buttery toast.
In my kitchen is our new Expressi coffee machine which was a gift from Key’s family. They also bought us all of the accessories to go with it like the milk frother and lots of pods. Thank you very much to them, we love it and I’ve been enjoying coffees in Key’s BrickExpo mug.
Haha, spot my reflection in the pic :)
In my kitchen is our Easter egg stash. We are so spoilt!
I had to have the Lindt Bugs and Bees Easter treat. The chocs are long gone but I’ve kept the super cute container.

In my kitchen is an Adrian Zumbo Macaron pack that Key picked up for me. I’m building up the courage to try making macarons for the first time, so this pre-mix pack may be a good starting point. I plan to do a mini review as I make them, so keep an eye out on here if you are interested in how the pack works.
In my kitchen are my wooden spoons all back together in their rightful place. I only had a few with me in Singapore, so I relished unpacking all of my kitchen stuff this month as we settled back into Canberra life.
Speaking of Singapore, a ‘care pack’ of Singaporean goodies that I mailed back to myself before we left showed up this week. So in my kitchen is some canned, braised peanuts, some Nonya kaya and some original Nestum cereal which I plan to make cereal prawns with.
Technically, these aren’t in my kitchen as I am hiding them from myself. Who doesn’t want to eat Easter eggs throughout the year? I picked them up on clearance after Easter and now I’m saving them for a treat.
In my kitchen are these malted mini cheesecakes. Good news: they tasted great. Bad news: they didn’t quite set so I am still working on the recipe.
And finally, in my kitchen are these gorgeous succulent mini gardens that mum made for me. They are sitting on my kitchen windowsill and make me smile whenever I look at them :)
Thanks for reading my In My Kitchen post and don’t forget to head over to Celia’s blog to find out what is in everyone else’s kitchen this month.
